I Cannot Wait!

This week brought a return to boot camp...
...(I'm the one standing in the hole)...and brought boot camp into physical therapy!

For over five years, I stayed away from the jumping maneuvers; not this week.  I started doing the no impact jumping jacks; and then decided to test out the full jumping jack since I had the knee brace on.  Guess what?  It did not hurt!  I also combined Spider Man push-ups with burpees (not intentionally; but it too, did not bother the knee).  Combining exercises was not limited to boot camp. I combined two chair press exercises into one today during physical therapy.  The 5x5x30 was combined with the single-leg jump.  So rather than doing the smooth push back 5 times and holding it for 30 seconds; I jumped it back 5 times then held it.  No wonder I had to take a break after the 4th rep!

Part of physical therapy was moved outside this morning.  Dan was all excited to give me new drills; which turned out to be some of the warmup drills we do at bootcamp:  high knee running, running butt kicks, side shuffles, karaoke (grapevine), and high knee skipping.  Then it was back inside for more strengthening and balance exercises.  Nothing like back-to-back workouts 16 hours apart from each other!  But my reward was some electrical shock therapy and heat on the knee!

My knee is definitely stronger than it was before the procedure.  One more week and I get to go back up the hill to Grass Valley to see how well the stem cells are doing.  This may be the first time in my life that I am excited to go to the doctor.  March 20th cannot come soon enough!
