Preparing for Stem Cell Therapy

That big bottle of "Advanced Stem Cell Support Formula" is my magic elixir!  I take a shot of it every morning and my knee seems to be doing better already; though it still has it's days and let's me know in no uncertain terms when it is not happy.  I have to stay off all NSAIDs and ibuprofen for a number of weeks before and after the therapy.  I try to avoid taking ibuprofen anyway, so that has not been a stretch.  The focus before the procedure is to get the body producing more stem cells than it normally does; by diet, exercise and supplements.  This focus will also carry over after the procedure as well.

Diet - no sugar, no processed foods, something close to Paleo.  Having done a few rounds of Whole 30, this is not a problem.  The problem for me is my regular doctor wants me on a vegan diet, which I suck at since I grew up on eggs and protein from the animal world!  So it's been about 50/50 between Whole 30 and no animal products. Not perfect, but not consuming animal products on a daily basis anymore.  I have also cut my calories by 20% two weeks prior to the procedure - don't be jealous!

A couple of other items also need to be avoided (both of these industries lose money on me anyway, I am just listing them here for your edification):
  • Alcohol - negative impact on stem cell function
  • Cannaboids (marijuana) - promotes bone formation over cartilage
Exercise - no couch potatoes allowed!  But one does not need to be an elite athlete for the stem cell therapy.  Regular activity is key here, stem cell production is increased with exercise.  The more, the better!

Supplements - I have gone from taking none, to the collection in the photo!  Stem cells like the following:

  • Vitamin D/D3 (reduces aging of stem cells)
  • Vitamin C (increased bone marrow stem cells)
  • Curcumin  (anti-inflammatory)
  • Glucosamine (protect cartilage and reduce cartilage loss)
  • Chondroitin (protect cartilage and reduce cartilage loss)
  • Resveratrol (protects cartilage, helps stem cells proliferate, and controls blood sugar)

I finally found some fish oil pills that are not gigantic and less fish smelly!  Thank you Nature's Bounty.

Much of the preparation is recommended 2-4 weeks prior to the stem cell procedure.  Though I would recommend for anyone of thinking of having this done to get the regime started sooner than later.

I think I am ready!
