It's the Little Things

Today marks 3 weeks since I had the stem cells transplanted from my backside to my knee.  Yesterday, while doing my PT work I was thinking back to what I could not do 3 weeks ago and what I still cannot do without pain.  My mind tends to wander when I am doing my PT exercises (or any exercise for that matter).  So rather than focus on the things I still cannot do, I thought I would put down into words the things I can do now - relatively pain free:
  • Sit.
  • Get in and out of the shower.
  • Get dressed.
  • Get out of bed without hobbling like an old drunk (most of the time).
  • Put shoes and socks on without sitting down.
  • Get into the car without having to physically lift my leg with my hands.
  • Sleep in any position (back, stomach, side) without pain (the bruising on my back and knee is gone).
  • Go up and down multiple flights of stairs.
  • Stand on my tip toes.
  • Forward fold (bend over and hang out for a while).
  • Stand on one leg (wobbly, but still).
  • Toilet squats.
  • Stand at the stand-up desk at work for longer periods of time.
  • Change the water on the water cooler at work.
  • Walk for over an hour.
  • Run a block (just tested it tonight)!
I can do a lot of other things; but they are still comfortably uncomfortable!
